Current interests revolve around design for a circular economy, use & applications of bio-degradable plastic, laser / water jet processing, surface modification of materials and light weighting of vehicles. Recent activity has centred on environmental technologies, waste heat and resource efficiency. As well as the use of robotics and automation for both on and off-site manufacturing cells. Smart manufacturing, the use of additive technologies and their integration in to lean manufacturing is and additional interest that has grown out of resource efficiency work. The practical use of low-cost software, measurement & sensing equipment to develop manufacturing processes in SMEs has also been a long-term interest.
