BIO
My interest in Criminology, and it's surrounding disciplines, has always been rooted in wanting to understand and learn about experiences, specifically experiences had by those in custody. My own experience of working with offenders within a prison education setting has allowed me to learn about these experiences authentically and led to an increased interest in the decision-making processes of prison establishments. Especially of interest to me is the decision-making around the care of older prisoners and their experience of being in custody and accessing a meaningful, and appropriate, regime. Also in this role, I have worked collaboratively with many agencies to support an offender's rehabilitation journey, opening my eyes to the vast, complex system associated with our current custody arrangements. I am interested in looking further into these processes, understand the reasoning behind them and supporting a further focus on experience-led initiatives and solutions.
