ProfChaminda Pathirage

Prof Chaminda Pathirage is the Director of Construction Futures Research Centre (CFRC) and Professor of Brownfield Research and Innovation at School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering, University of Wolverhampton. He has over 24 years of teaching and research experience and has worked in higher education sector in the UK and Sri Lanka. Prof Pathirage was the University of Wolverhampton's Coordinator for Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 Unit of Assessment 13 'Architecture, Built Environment and Planning' and continue as the UoA13 coordinator for REF2029. He has developed his specific research interest on Disaster Resilience and Brownfield research. Prof Pathirage is an investigator for Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs funded FAIR project and has been an investigator for a number of externally funded research projects including £1.2 million EPSRC funded project titled '‘A Collaborative Multi-agency Platform for Building Resilient Communities- MOBILISE’. He is the Director of the ‘National Brownfield Institute' (NBI) and has held a number of management responsibilities and leadership roles at different levels in higher education sector such as the Director of the flagship research group, the Centre for Disaster Resilience (CDR) at University of Salford, Director of Postgraduate Research studies for over 200 PhD students and Director of MSc Project Management in Construction programme. Prof Pathirage has been successful in securing several exaternally funded research grants, publishing more than 120 refereed articles, graduating 30 PhD students, guest editing several special journal issues, serving as the chair for the 13th International Post-Graduate Research Conference (IPGRC) and delivering a number of keynote speeches. Prof Pathirage has put his efforts into accomplishing an academic career in higher education whilst making original and significant contributions to knowledge, practice and impact on communities, industry, professionals and the wider society.
