BIO

Emma joined the Institute for Community Research and Development (ICRD) in April 2022 as a PhD researcher as part of a collaborative project. Emma's research aims to understand the way that people behave in online spaces, understanding how polarisation resulting from online misinformation may affect young adults and the methods of intervention used to counter it. Bringing a psychological perspective, she aims to further understand how polarisation occurs on social media platforms and begin to create interventions and policies to counter it.

Prior to starting PhD research, Emma completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Edge Hill University and her masters in Cyberpsychology at the University of Wolverhampton.
