DrGlyn Hambrook

On 15 March 2019 I was nominated an honorary member of the Sociedad Espanola de Literatura General y Comparada, Spain's academic association for comparative and general literature. My significant contributions to this association include conference organization (Xenografías/Xenographies, Wolverhampton 2009 and Barcelona 2011) and delivering two plenary lectures to the doctoral and early-career researchers group of the association.

This honorary position was awarded shortly after my retirement in 2017 in recognition of my contribution to research in the field of comparative European literature and research leadership at the University of Wolverhampton. To date, I have advised on preparation of the next REF submission for Area Studies, participated in activity of the CTTR (The research centre of which I was co-founder and co-director until I retired), and facilitated collaborative activity with the Department of English Studies at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain.

Several months before retiring I was appointed Profesor Honorífico (Honorary Lecturer) in the Department of English Studies at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain, following over 12 years of close and frequent collaboration with the department (examination of PhD theses, joint conferences, a visiting fellowship in 2009, among other activities). In this role I have continued to examine doctoral theses and now also supervise undergraduate dissertations, as well as participating in the activities of the research group "Contextos literarios de la modernidad", of which I am a member.
