TEACHING INTERESTS

Jane teaches on both the sociology and social policy programmes, and is joint Programme Lead for the Masters in Research (International Relations).. She is keen to get students involved in community activities, through both accredited modules and as extra-curricular activities. She is module leader for community-based learning modules which requires the student to work co-productively with a local community or public sector organisation to carry out a piece of applied research or co design a project that benefits the organisation. She is also module leader and designer of Advocacy in Action, where first year social science students work with 3rd year graphic design students, to help local organisations raise awareness of social issues and local support services., through a visual campaign.
In her post at University of Bradford she was awarded the VC's Teaching Excellence Award in 2017, in recognition of her development of the IMPACT Bradford project, engaging students from across the Faculty of Social Science in community projects.
She has completed PG Cert in Higher Education and is a Senior Fellow of HEA.
