RESEARCH INTERESTS

My current research explores the intersection of architectural education, digital pedagogy and quality assurance in both academic and professional contexts. Building on the work I completing as part of the PG Cert Academic Practice in Higher Education, I am investigating methods of engaging learners through interactive digital tools engaging generative AI. I am also interested developing a artificial intelligence systems capable of reviewing technical drawings, initially for student assignments, and subsequently for professional practice. This system would check conventional drawing standards, assess compliance with relevant building regulations and provide formative feedback.

In an academic setting, such a tool could offer students immediate, consistent guidance on drawing conventions and regulatory requirements. In a professional context, it could serve as a quality-assurance mechanism, giving PI insurers and practice managers confidence that junior staff are producing information to an acceptable standard and that regulatory compliance is being met. Ultimately, I am interested in how this research might support more efficient workflows, foster greater responsibility among emerging design professionals and enhance the rigour of architectural education and practice alike.
