BIO

Dr Kareem Sani, PhD, PGCAP, FHEA, MCIM, is a Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Wolverhampton Business School, United Kingdom. He is an accomplished marketing academic and researcher with extensive expertise spanning strategic marketing, consumer behaviour, branding, digital marketing, relationship marketing, and sustainable marketing. Combining academic excellence with substantial industry experience, he brings a practice-informed perspective to teaching, research, and knowledge exchange. Prior to joining the University of Wolverhampton, Dr Kareem Sani held academic positions at the University of Roehampton and the University of East London, where he taught across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He holds a PhD in Marketing from the University of East London, where his doctoral research examined customer switching behaviour in the retail banking sector. He also earned an MSc in International Marketing Management from the University of East London and a BSc in Marketing from the University of Uyo, Nigeria. He recently earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) in Higher Education from the University of Wolverhampton. He is a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA) and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM), UK.

 

Dr Kareem Sani is an active researcher with a strong commitment to producing internationally recognised, high-impact research and securing external research funding. His work explores contemporary marketing and management challenges, with particular interests in consumer behaviour, brands and branding, business and marketing ethics, relationship marketing, services marketing, SME marketing, social media marketing, social marketing, and sustainable marketing. He also undertakes interdisciplinary research in areas including business strategy, organisational behaviour, entrepreneurship, and human resource management. His research has been published in leading international journals, including the Journal of Business Research, Human Relations, Management Decision, Society and Business Review, and Employee Relations, among others. He has also contributed chapters to scholarly books and regularly presents his work at national and international conferences, including the Academy of Marketing (AM) Conferences and the British Academy of Management (BAM) Conferences. His current research examines the intersections of business ethics, sustainability, branding, consumer behaviour, technological transformation, and organisational performance, with a particular focus on the financial services sector and emerging economies.

 

Before embarking on his academic career, Dr Kareem Sani spent over a decade in the retail banking industry, where he developed extensive leadership, operational, and strategic management experience. During his banking career, he progressed through several roles, including Teller/Cashier, Customer Care Officer, Fund Transfer Officer, Cash Officer/ATM Custodian, Operations Manager, and ultimately Branch Manager at First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Access Bank Plc, Nigeria. This wealth of professional experience enables him to bridge theory and practice, enriching his teaching with real-world business insights and preparing students for contemporary organisational challenges.

 

As an educator, Dr Kareem is passionate about delivering an engaging, research-informed learning experience that equips students with the analytical, strategic, and practical skills required for successful careers in marketing and business. He is equally committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, innovation, and academic excellence. Beyond teaching and research, Dr Kareem actively collaborates with academics, industry practitioners, and policymakers on projects that generate meaningful societal and organisational impact.
