BIO

Patrick J. Vernon is a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Wolverhampton and a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of War Studies at King's College London. Patrick's research studies the relationship between dehumanisation and political violence using a unique synthesis of queer, feminist and de/postcolonial theoretical approaches. Within this frame, they have researched topics including genocide, humanitarian intervention, post-truth politics, culture wars and transitional justice. Patrick's work has appeared in leading journals including International Studies Review, International Political Sociology, The British Journal of Politics and International Relations, and Millennium. Their recently published monograph, The Coloniality of Humanitarian Intervention, has been critically acclaimed in International Affairs and studies the UK's (non)responses to atrocity crimes as well as the sexual-civilisationist worldviews these actions sustain.
