BIO

Dr Mourya joined the University of Wolverhampton (UoW) as a Lecturer and Researcher at School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Science (FSE) in October 2023. He also joined as a team member of Digital Innovations and Solution Centre (DISC), UoW, which undertakes world-class fundamental and applied research that creates positive impact on society and the economy.

Prior to this, he worked for 6 years as a Research Associate at School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS), Heriot-Watt University on several research projects funded by EPSRC and 18 months as a PostDoc researcher at Telecom ParisTech, Paris. He has also worked as Embedded System Engineer for 4 years in a start-up company called ID Technologies in Pune, India just after finishing his Engineering degree.

He has a PhD and MSc degree in Computer Science (speciality: Signal, Image, Vision) from Jean Monnet University, Saint-Etienne, France, and BEng in Electronics & Telecom from University of Pune, India.

Dr Mourya's research focuses on developing fundamental tools for machine learning, computer vision, and inverse problems. This includes optimization theory and algorithms, signal/image processing and analysis, learning theory, and data science. These tools find applications in diverse fields such as autonomous systems, robotics, sensor networks, and beyond.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Deep Learning Specialization
    Coursera5 May 2020
In this Specialization, you built neural network architectures such as Convolutional Neural Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, LSTMs, Transformers, and learned how to make them better with strategies such as Dropout, BatchNorm, and Xavier/He initialization. You mastered these theoretical concepts, learned their industry applications using Python and TensorFlow, and tackled real-world cases such as speech recognition, music synthesis, chatbots, machine translation, natural language processing, and more. You are now familiar with the capabilities and challenges of deep learning. You are ready to take the definitive step in the world of AI and participate in the development of leading-edge technology.
