MrSandro Graca

Enthusiastic researcher dedicated to advancing women's health, with a primary focus on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and integrative medicine. My journey in this field began with an MSc from Middlesex University (in conjunction with the Northern College of Acupuncture, York). I received a Merit on my MSc research on acupuncture for PCOS, highlighting my commitment to evidence-based practice and innovative treatment approaches.

As a member of the Androgen Excess & PCOS Society (AE-PCOS) Early-Career Special Interest Group, I had the privilege of contributing to the research work towards the 2023 update to the international PCOS guidelines, which play a vital role in shaping best practices in the field. Additionally, I serve as the Social Media Officer for the AE-PCOS Society.

My research endeavours extend beyond PCOS, encompassing work in two Cochrane Review Groups: first-author on acupuncture for assisted reproductive technology and co-author on Chinese herbal medicine for endometriosis. I am a Fellow of the Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine (ABORM, USA).

The passion for research education and dissemination led me to international roles and collaborations. I am one of the Directors at Evidence Based Acupuncture and I am a Board member of the Society for Acupuncture Research (SAR), with leadership roles as the co-ordinator for the SAR Special Interest Groups and the SAR Global Ambassadors.

In 2022, I was appointed to the Research Committee of the American Society of Acupuncturists (ASA) and in 2023, I took up the position of Scientific Advisor for the OGKA in Austria. In 2024, I accepted the role of External Research Advisor at the Northern College of Acupuncture, UK. 

I serve as Social Media & Outreach Editor for the European Journal of Integrative Medicine (Elsevier) and I am on the editorial board of the journals Perspectives on Integrative Medicine and Integrative Medicine Research.
