MrThomas Wilson

Thomas Wilson is currently a PhD Candidate at The University of Wolverhampton, an institution where he also previously completed an MA in Film Studies.

Due for completion in 2025, Thomas is completing his thesis titled 'The Horror Host in US anthology Television: The Legacy of Frank Gallop'. This project contributes new knowledge on the little explored historical media figure Frank Gallop and recognises his significant role in the development of aesthetics in the early history of the horror anthology series host. In so doing, this thesis identifies the influence of Gallop's legacy in a lineage inlcuding later prominent examples such as Rod Serling (The Twilight Zone; Night Gallery) which has been overshadowed by the dominance of Alfred Hitchcock (Alfred Hitchcock Presents) in this arena.

Thomas has published his research in national and international peer-reviewed journals, which includes the Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television. Thomas has also presented on his at numerous national conferences and industry talks. 

As a member of the Centre for Film, Media, Discourse and Culture, Thomas contributes to the output of the PhD community currently researching in Film and Screen Studies in the School of Arts at The University of Wolverhampton, which is led by Dr Frances Pheasant-Kelly.

Throughout his time as a doctoral researcher, Thomas has also delivered university-level teaching within the Screen Media department.
