RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr Fideline Tchuenbou-Magaia is involved in interdisciplinary research and focuses on the application of Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Materials science, chemical engineering and formulation engineering to:
- Develop sustainable formulations , particles and encapsulation technologies for improving product stability, and safety or adding novelty and functionality to a wide range of formulated products.
- Develop materials and clean technologies to address and mitigate energy and environmental challenges.
- Recover and convert waste into value-added materials/products and develop technologies for waste reduction in the manufacturing ecosystems.

- Green Horizons: A Transnational Education Initiative for Advancing Green Innovation and Sustainability in Chemical and Natural Gas Engineering, British Council founded Transnational Education (TNE) Exploratory Grant funding call for a UK - Egypt partnership (PI), £25000, Jan 2026 -June 2027
- Sustainable production of paper from bacterial cellulose, Innovate UK - Accelerated Knowledge Transfer (Co-I), £33,711, April -August 2024.
- Use of waste/by-products for eco-efficient production of high added value products such as sustainable collagen peptides and packaging materials.
- Development of Innovative Off-Grid Energy Storage for Sub-Saharan Africa using portable and affordable Na-ion Battery System (£1,087526, Oct.2021- Decem. 2023), Innovate UK project led by AceOn.

- Composition and effect on the metabolic syndrome of an herbal tea formulated with Hibicus sabdariffa, Mentha spicata and Zingiber officinale. A collaborative project with Professor Inocent Gouado at the University of Douala Cameroon, Biochemistry department.
- Food formulation based on banana flour and local fruits for target subjects.
- Zero sugar added chocolate spread fortified vitamin D and other health-promoting ingredient. A collaborative project Professor Fabio Favati from the department of Biotechnology, University of Verona
- Gluten free biscuits formulations with unconventional flours and bioactive ingredients. A collaborative project with professor Fernanda Galgano from the University of Basilicata, School of Agricultural, Forest, Food, and Environmental Sciences.
- Rheological study of Micreos Skin Care Products, Industry funded project with Micreos, Netherlands.
- EPSRC (EP/N000714/1): £934,275 (co-investigator), Cryogenic-temperature cold storage using microencapsulated phase change materials in slurries, Oct 2015-Sep2019.
-Controlled release micro-carriers loaded with oral care agents , including anti-microbial agents (Philips oral healthcare).
- Innovate UK-BBSRC (£458 K) let by Pangaea Agrochemicals Limited (BB/M018156/1) Overcoming glyphosate resistance (DI investigator Nov. 2014- Nov. 2015).
