Dr John Robinson is an advanced manufacturing leader specialising in the industrialisation of emerging manufacturing technologies.

Working at the intersection of advanced materials, manufacturing science and commercial strategy he helps organisations solve complex engineering challenges by translating innovative technologies into commercially valuable industrial capability.

Over the past fifteen years John has developed and led multidisciplinary programmes spanning advanced materials, laser powder bed fusion, thermal management, functional electronics and next-generation manufacturing. His work brings together industry, academia and government to create strategic partnerships, develop intellectual property and accelerate the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies.

John leads industry engagement across a broad portfolio of collaborative research and innovation programmes, developing partnerships that connect academic excellence with industrial need. His work spans the full innovation lifecycle from identifying opportunities and building collaborations through to technology development, manufacturing, validation and commercialisation.

His current research focuses on the industrialisation of functional manufacturing including advanced materials, multi-material additive manufacturing, thermal management, functional electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.

His long-term vision is to help shape the future of manufacturing by integrating materials, processes and functionality to create the next generation of high-value industrial products.
