- SME digitalisation, including organisational and regional disparities in adopting new technologies
- SME net‑zero adoption, with a focus on digital and green transitions in the West Midlands
- Regional development in the West Midlands, including business digital readiness and skills for growth
- Evidence‑based policymaking for SME support and inclusive regional economic development
- Microfinance and SME finance, including impacts on entrepreneurship development, poverty reduction and women’s empowerment
