BIO

I retired from full-time work in 2016 after working at the University of Huddersfield since 2002 as an Academic Skills Tutor. I then took on two honorary roles, one at the University of Huddersfield for five years until August 2021, and another at the University of Wolverhampton until December 2023. The work at Huddersfield continued my involvement with student learning development and learning technology while my role at Wolverhampton involves research and publication in cultural, labour and social history specialising in the history and politics of the British labour movement; coal industry; energy policy and of popular music and youth cultures and includes some public external activities related to this. Away from this involvement I am interested in fell and hill walking in the north of England and Wales; popular music and film collection and curatorship; gardening; soccer; rugby league and foreign travel.
