BIO

Emily is a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at the University of Wolverhampton. She graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 2018 with a First Class degree in Mathematics and is currently completing a PhD in Mathematics and Computing. Her doctoral research focuses on the optimisation of chaotic neural networks for continuous and discrete optimisation problems.

Her research is centred on mathematical and computational optimisation, chaotic neural networks and biologically inspired computation, with broader applications within artificial intelligence. She also has developing interests in responsible and human-centred AI, AI education, and the practical use of artificial intelligence within higher education and professional contexts.

Alongside her research, Emily teaches across postgraduate Artificial Intelligence and Data Science programmes and supervises research projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is also involved in EmpowerAI, an initiative focused on developing opportunities for applied AI practice and professional experience within higher education.

Emily is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Her research has received the Outstanding Research Award at the Future Technologies Conference in both 2024 and 2025.
