MrsGemma Witton (PFHEA)

Drawing on her background in the visual arts, Gemma adopts a creative and immersive approach to academic development, designing and facilitating continuing professional development opportunities that make effective use of digital pedagogies. Her work focuses on supporting educators to enhance learning and teaching practice through innovative and evidence-informed approaches.

 As Module Leader for 7ED083 Inclusive and Effective Learning, Teaching and Assessment in Higher Education on the PG Cert Academic Practice in Higher Education, Gemma supports colleagues in developing scholarly, reflective, and student-centred approaches to learning, teaching, and assessment, helping new academic staff build their core knowledge and professional values to achieve recognition for their teaching and support for learning practice. She also acts as a tutor on the SEDA-accredited Learning to Tutor Online and Digital Transformations courses, enabling educators to develop confidence and capability in online facilitation, digital learning design, and leadership of effective integration of technology-enhanced learning practices.

In addition, Gemma is the Scheme Lead for KUDOS, the University of Wolverhampton's Advance HE Fellowship Scheme, which supports colleagues in achieving professional recognition aligned to the Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023). Through both written and professional dialogue routes, KUDOS enables staff to gain fellowship recognition across all four categories of Advance HE Fellowship, from Associate Fellow (D1) and Fellow (D2) through to Senior Fellow (D3) and Principal Fellow (D4). In this role, Gemma oversees the strategic development and quality assurance of the scheme, mentors applicants and reviewers, and champions a culture of reflective practice, professional growth, and excellence in learning and teaching across the institution.
