TEACHING INTERESTS

PRINCIPAL LECTURER HEAD OF DEPARTMENT (SPORT PARTNERSHIPS) •THE UNIVERSITY OF WOLVERHAMTPON• AUGUST 2019 – AUGUST 2021 (SECONDMENT)

Established and coordinated a number of events including ASPRIRE to HE with partners British Judo and Sport Science educational workshops for 16-18-year old interested in studying sport from over 15 FE partners.

Line management responsibility for 10 full time academic members of staff from a range disciplines within sport.

Stakeholder management of key sporting partners including Walsall FC, Telford Tigers ice Hockey, Telford FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, WBA, British Judo and Walsall cricket club.

Placement provision, including coordinating and recruiting placement providers and terms of agreement with external bodies.

Income generation, including DEXA scans with sports teams and individuals, laboratory-based consultancy and short course CPD

KEF and inter-professional learning including development of enterprise and consultancy strategies for the department.


LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER SPORT AND EXERCISE SCIENCE • THE UNIVERSITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON • OCTOBER 2010 – AUGUST 2019

Senior lecturer leading both strategic (course and curriculum development) translated to operational success including effective teaching that achieved excellent student satisfaction and good pass-rates.

Course leader for Sport and Exercise Science (2018-present), this included writing the new UG degree Programme starting 2020 and accrediting the course through the professional body (British Association of Sport and Exercise Science)

Led modules across a range of areas including Physiology, Biomechanics and Interdisciplinary sport and exercise science with a range of blended learning opportunities.

Supervising over 100 UG dissertation projects, 15 MRes dissertations and 3 PhD’s.

Developing NSS strategies for subject and achieved an overall satisfaction of 97% in 2019 (highest ever achieved by the department).

Submitted to REF 2014 and will be submitted to REF 2021

‘New to EU’ funding course completed in 2017 with partners the ‘Grant Academy” looking at developing bidding skills for EU grants.

Consultancy to a number of partners and external sports agencies who wish to access facilities and expertise in Sports Science and Medicine.
