DrArafatur Rahman

Professor Md Arafatur Rahman has over 15 years of experience in higher education, delivering research-informed teaching across Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Communication Networks, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Software Engineering. He has held academic positions at the University of Wolverhampton (UK) and Universiti Malaysia Pahang (Malaysia), where he has contributed extensively to undergraduate and postgraduate education.

His teaching expertise encompasses curriculum design, module leadership, programme development, assessment, quality assurance, and research supervision. He has led numerous modules ranging from foundational computing and programming to advanced topics in cybersecurity, communication networks, big data, distributed systems, and software engineering. He has also served as Programme Lead for both undergraduate and postgraduate cybersecurity programmes, contributing to programme validation, curriculum enhancement, and continuous quality improvement.

At the University of Wolverhampton, Professor Rahman currently leads the MSc modules Incident Management and Response and Secure Cyber-Physical and IoT Systems. These modules provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in cyber incident response, digital forensics, cyber resilience, Security Operations Centres (SOC), IoT security, cyber-physical systems, connected and autonomous systems, digital twins, AI-enabled security, and critical infrastructure protection. His teaching integrates current research, industrial case studies, and hands-on practical activities to prepare students for careers in both industry and academia.

Professor Rahman has supervised numerous undergraduate, MSc, MPhil, and PhD research projects, fostering independent research, innovation, and critical thinking. His teaching philosophy emphasises research-led education, combining theoretical foundations with practical applications and emerging technologies to equip students with the technical, analytical, and professional skills required to address contemporary cybersecurity challenges.
