DrGeorge Gosling

Dr Gosling welcomes expressions of interest in PhD projects in modern British history, especially those focusing on any of the following themes:
• Social policy and the welfare state
• Healthcare, hospitals and the NHS
• Charity and the voluntary sector
• Social histories of retail, esp. charity shops

Dr Gosling was previously Programme Leader for History, a role in which he headed up the redesign of the History programme in 2021 to bring explicit focus on the core themes of skills development and understanding Britain's place in the world.

He is module leader for the following undergraduate and masters modules:
