RESEARCH INTERESTS

Over many decades of research, cognitive psychologists have shown that human memory is imperfect. Memories can become distorted and inaccurate, and tend to be forgotten over time. But how and why does this happen? I conduct experimental research that investigates this issue, with a specific emphasis on forgetting mechanisms. Most of my research explores memory over short periods of time, but I am also interested in how we remember over the long-term. I have broader interests in how other cognitive processes affect behaviour in the real world, such as perception and attention.
